Solarplate Printmaking Workshop – Journey to the Unknown! w/ Dan Welden

July 31 – Aug. 2nd 2018
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9 – 4 pm
$425 – plus materials fee (paper and plates paid directly to Dan)

Join Dan Welden into new territory for a three day solarplate printmaking journey. Participants will begin their exploration into this exciting medium by making marks on their plate with handmade, found drawing implements, working in black and white and finalizing with delicious color. Specifically designed for the artist who has the desire to bring spontaneity and fluidity to their work, each will have the capability to break barriers and expectations by delving into layers of color… into the unknown, unexpected and unplanned.

Dan Welden has been pioneering safer alternative printmaking techniques since the early 70’s when he first developed solarplates. He is co-author of “Printmaking in the Sun,” and Director of Hampton Editions, Ltd. in Sag Harbor, NY. He has collaborated with many artists including, Willem and Elaine de Kooning, Eric Fischl and Dan Flavin. He has been the recipient of numerous international printmaking grants extending from Belgium to New Zealand. He is an extraordinary teacher with an incredible wealth of knowledge to share. This is an opportunity you don’t want to miss!
